I read it in the paper, page 3, below the story on this new movie
Small letters announced she still sang, my annie
So I strode to the club, was never there before
It seemed it's best times were gone
I took a look around, some pals were marking cards
It became so clear to me

I took a seat in the back near the stairs, did she notice that somebody cared?
Then she came up on stage, I leaned back, did we attain full age?
Oh yes, she has changed, but her smile is still the same
And so she started to sing
Her eyelids closed to say come whatever may
It became so clear to me

While I’m calling, while I’m falling, while I’m living, annie still sings
And after the show I was ready to go, I was stopped and got a note
As I turned around she was gone, but I was found and I could make it out:
